Often called the "Garden of France", the Loire Valley is an enchanted land of vineyards, flowers and rolling green hills dotted with more than a thousand chateaux. It is perhaps the charm of its gentle pace life that has, for centuries, made it a sought-after location for poets and writers. It is a step back through the history of some of France's finest works of art... The Loire Valley encompasses the world renown and pituresque castles of Chambord, Chenonceau, Villandry, Usse, Cheverny, Amboise and Clos Lucé just to name a few...
Chateau de Chambord, the largest of all the Loire Valley castles and a magnificent Renaissance edifice, was built by François I, and is surrounded by an immense park and hunting reserve.
The Chateau d'Ussé, with its stricking turret roofline, was built on the foundations of a medieval castle, and over the decades was transformed from a fortress into a royal chateau.
The Hurault family’s classical Chateau de Cheverny was built between 1620 and 1634 on the site of a preceding castle.
The magnificent Chateau d'Amboise overlooks the tranquil Loire River, providing one of the finest panoramic views in the Loire Valley.
The Chateau du Clos Lucé, located 500 metres from the Chateau d'Amboise, was built in the mid 15 th century during The Renaissance. |
