Touraine is a thriving food region, where classic French cuisine is much celebrated and fresh local produce is dominant in many restaurants.

In Touraine, restaurants are generally serving lunch from 12pm and dinner from 8pm. They are many dining options which will delight your palate; be it cafés, brasseries and créperies, or fine, gourmet restaurants.

Cafés, brasseries and créperies are perfect for relatively quick meals. Cafés serve scrumptious snacks and coffee, whilst brasseries often serve a dish of the day. Créperies specialise in their specific cuisines, as well as offering fresh salads, a range of desserts and alcoholic beverages.

The more expensive restaurants in the Loire Valley offer at least one fixed-price menu. These generally feature a refined starter, a salad or vegetables served separately; a gourmet main course with fine regional produce, a cheese dish and a delicable dessert. The best restaurants change their menus at each season to use the best and freshest ingredients available: you could be proposed a menu mainly built around mushrooms specialities in Autumn, and Aspargus in Summer.
