Bivouac on the Loire

We, at RiverLoire, are proud to offer this truly authentic and environmentally friendly opportunity for you to discover the wonder of the World Heritage Loire River; the last wild river in Europe.

You will board a traditional small boat on the Loire at 16h00 and enjoy a tranquil 2 hour boat ride before arriving at your deserted island, in the middle of the river. After pitching your tent, you will be offered an aperitif and have the chance to taste some of the region's fine wines. You can then explore the small island and observe the wild beavers, before boarding the boat at 20h30, for another fantastic adventure.

Accompanied by the Loire's last remaining traditional fisherman, you will witness and perhaps participate in this unique and intriguing form of fishing. With your fresh ‘catch', you will return to your bivouac at 23h00 to prepare a delicious campfire dinner and enjoy a serene night sleeping ‘under the stars'.

For the more courageous, they will be given the chance to rise early for a walk or boat ride to discover the morning activities of the Loire's wild animals (beavers, birds, etc), before returning for an 8h00 breakfast.

After bidding farewell to the wild inhabitants of your island, you will be returned to ‘civilisation'.

This adventure is a fantastic opportunity for you to discover the Loire as very few people will ever do. It is obviously of less comfort than the rest of our escapes, but everybody, from children to the elderly, can enjoy it provided that they are in good health.

This natural trip is subject to the climate and the river levels and therefore could be cancelled if our expert guide judges it wise to do so. In this case all costs for this tour will be reimbursed.
