Whats up ? Traditionnal boat ride on the Cher River

A unique way of discovering the Loire Valley and the Castle of Chenonceau.

A river cruise with a difference, a true contact with the local people, a day to learn, a day to experience...

RiverLoire is part of a group of passionnate, whose vocation is to promote the rich heritage of the Cher River. Twelve years ago, they built a boat ,called a «toue cabanée». It is a traditional flat-bottomed boat of the river traffic of XIII and XIX centuries that concretizes the inheritance of the knowledge of that specific period of time and symbolizes the heritage of the canal transportation from Tours.

During the summer season, from first of July to mid September, we offer cruises on the Cher River from a little harbour situated on the river.

Up to the castle of Chenonceau, Thierry, the founder of RiverLoire and also a licensed boat pilot, organises short half-day cruise, or a full day cruise  (no need to bring your picnic as we will have prepared a very nice lunch on board !). The boat can welcome groups of twelve persons maximum.

• Offer yourself an original discovery of the Cher river and the Loire Valley, an exceptional site with patrimonial treasures which contribute to the fame of the Touraine region.
• Lovers of their Loire Valley, Thierry and  the bargemen will be happy to welcome you aboard their boat. You will discover the charm of the manual locks and the houses lock keepers, the ingenuity of dams with needles, works of engineering built in 1850.
• You will admire the arborescence of the valley sheltering a diversified flora and a fauna, the typical houses, the mills, the manor houses and castles nested on the shores. You will have the opportunity to actually pass under the the arcs of prestigious castle of Chenonceau.
• You will live in family or between friends, a pleasant, friendly, enriching and unforgettable moment.
