Gardens of the Loire Valley

The Loire Valley, known as “The Garden of France'”, offers visitors with over 120 spectacular parks and gardens to discover. The Loire Valley region hosts internationally renowned garden festivals and beautiful herbal, landscape and royal gardens sure to impress all lovers of nature.

Complimenting the regions many Renaissance Loire castles are grand, royal gardens, beautifully designed and refinely sculptured. The splendid “English” gardens of the Chateau d'Amboise and the gardens of Diane de Poitiers and Catherine de Medicis at the Chateau de Chenonceau are two outstanding gardens of the region.

The fairytale gardens of the Chateau du Rivau where the 12 gardens evoke the wonderful stories and legends that literature has provided is also a pure delight and is particularly very much adapted to families.

The Chateau de Villandry exhibits a Renaissance-style garden inspired by 16 th century designs. Skilful gardeners have mixed flowers and vegetables into precise geometrical forms in order to create a fantastic impression of a typical renaissance garden.

The vegetable gardens of the Chateau de la Bourdaisiére is home to more than 300 tomato varietie, whilst balustrades, statues and fountains are dotted through the park of the Chateau de Valmer, creating a range of different atmospheres.

Hidden away in a secluded valley crowned by 6 hectares of flowering cornflowers and poppies and with sweeping views across the forest of Chinon and the river Indre, the remarkable gardens of the Chateau de la Chatonniere are a carefully guarded secret. Follow the path and discover the gardens of Silence, Senses, Intelligence, Sciences, Romances, Fragrances, Elegance, Abundance, Wonder and Luxuriance...

Without forgetting the outstanding Chateau de Chaumont which hosts every year an amazing garden festival "Festival des jardins" with 26 yearly renewed gardens, experimental gardens and fantastic candle lights evening at the castle...
