Biking from chateau to chateau in the loire Valley

Cycling Loire is becoming a more and more popular way of travelling through the Loire Valley.

In fact, if you wish to discover the Loire Valley by bike, the ‘Loire à Velo' program provides over 400km of relatively flat cycling tracks, stretching along the World Heritage Loire River and its tributaries. The “Loire à Vélo” project offers over 300 kilometres of bike trails as part of the “Pays Des Chateaux” program; 30km of which is purely for cyclists. This is a "family friendly" alternative of discoveries. The route is clearly guided by signage, indicating all alternate routes, picnic areas and bike sheds at all the major sites.

The “Loire à Vélo” program allows you to discover unblemished areas of the Loire Valley, Loire castles, wildlife and nature, gardens and culture.

This is a unique and environmentally friendly way of travelling, an experience during which you will be in direct contact with the local people, wine makers, and many more. Travel at your own pace, follow your senses and stop at the local market just because the bread and cheeses smell good, spend some unexpected time on the shore of the Loire river just because a fisherman invited you to share stories, follow your curiosity and open some doors of unmarked Loire castles just because you did not find them in a guide book...

The city of Tours, in the Loire Valley, hosts the annual cycling race, Paris-Tours , held in October. The route of which leads from Paris, through the picturesque Loire Valley, and finishes on Tours main shopping street, Avenue du Grammont.

The Loire Valley is also conveniently close to Paris, where the final stage of the world's best known cycling race, Le Tour de France , is annually held.
