The Loire Valley, known as “The Garden of France'”, offers visitors with over 120 spectacular parks and gardens to discover. The Loire region hosts internationally renowned garden festivals and beautiful herbal, landscape and royal gardens sure to impress all lovers of nature.
Complimenting the regions many Renaissance chateaux are grand, royal gardens, beautifully designed and refinely sculptured. The splendid “English” gardens of Le Chateau d'Amboise , the gardens of Diane de Poitiers and Mary de Medicis at Le Chateau de Chenonceau , and the fairytale gardens of Le Chateau de Ussé , are royal gardens not to be missed.
Le Chateau de Villandry exhibits a Renaissance-style garden inspired by 16 th century designs. Skilful gardeners have mixed flowers and vegetables into precise geometrical forms in order to create a fantastic impression of a typical renaissance garden. Also not to be missed, are the vegetable gardens of Le Chateau de la Bourdaisiére , home to more than 300 tomato varieties.
At River Loire, we include the visit of most of these gardens in our Escorted Escapes. We also organise very successful photography breaks with a focus on gardens. Don't hesitate to contact us for more information.
